A network of women artists who are also mothers, creating an Installation and interactive Conversation.
The Conversation
The Conversation link will share participants' experiences, thoughts, and observations to continue the dialog in an interactive and evolving way. As a partner to and extension of the installation, we see this as a base for the evolution of The Mother Load, allowing these reponses to inform the direction of the installation and future work. The Installation
Through gathering fingerprints of artists and their children from across the globe, we will create an installation that focuses on identity and making. Copper plates will be sent to artists, they will fingerprint one side while the second side will display a QR code that points to their personal website, allowing viewers access to see both sides of these artists.Project Curators

May 17th through June 23rd, 2013, with the hopes of identifying additional venues to follow."K-9 Composition" (a painted fiberglass dog) will be included in PAWS for a PURRpose
PAWS for a PURRpose is a Texas statewide charitable public art event consisting of 60 beautiful works of art on fiberglass sculptures of life-size dogs and cats of different sizes, shapes and poses, along with two mini-cows and a few surprises. Internationally known artist Allison Gregory has selected 43 of some of the top artists in Texas to participate in this event. Many of these artists produce museum-quality work, and all were selected because of their unique style and overall quality of work.In June, South Texas College of Law will turn the 9th floor of the law school into an art gallery and host a special reception to unveil the art. The “gallery” will be open daily from late June to late August. From late August through late October, the art pieces will be moved to high-end retail stores, hotels, car dealerships, museums, restaurants, and law offices in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Wichita Falls, and Amarillo to generate excitement for the upcoming celebrity-hosted live auction of the art.
The auction will be part of festivities to be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013, at The Downtown Club at Houston Center, 1100 Caroline, from 6-9:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the sponsorships and the live auction will support the Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) and South Texas College of Law Animal Law Clinic (STCL).Please join us in this Texas year-long public art showing promoting THLN, STCL and YOU as a sponsor of this unique, lively, and fun event.
